SEL & Mental Health Services
Project Adventure supports SEL and mental health in schools through a variety of methods. Read about our most popular programs here, and contact us with any questions.
Professional Development
Our workshops provide both theory and actionable strategy for educators, counselors, and therapists.
Ranging from general SEL trainings to multi-day workshops on classroom strategies or group work, PA’s workshops are all high-quality and many qualify for CEUs and graduate credit. Visit our Workshops website to learn about our open workshops, or contact us at info@pa.org to request a custom training.
Student Support Groups
Project Adventure provides direct-service social-emotional learning (SEL) and mental health programming through Student Support Groups.
Support Groups are a non-clinical, proactive group approach to mental health, using experiential methods to learn and practice social-emotional capacities. Centered on games, group activities, and outdoor experiences, Support Groups engage and excite students who may struggle to participate or thrive in other settings.
Clusters of 8-12 students work together for 8 weeks or more, either on or off the challenge course, with goals including:
building social and emotional skills
growing interpersonal skills and relationships
learning to work together and address conflict in healthy ways
increasing school engagement
working toward their behavioral goals in IEPs or counseling.
In most cases, PA comes to you and facilitates groups at your school or program. For many students, Support Groups complement traditional therapeutic counseling; for others with less critical needs, Groups are a preventative intervention or a way to build new skills.

Adventure-in-Residence (AIR)
For schools that want more in-depth partnership and support, PA offers the Adventure-in-Residence program, or AIR.
AIR places a PA facilitator/consultant in your school for one or more day each week, for a whole school year. The AIR consultant can:
lead Student Support Groups with SEL and behavioral health goals
support classroom teaching with experiential methods
lead afterschool clubs or activities
provide professional development for teachers and staff in experiential learning, SEL, etc.
lead wellness groups for teachers and staff
support or lead systemic efforts such as SEL committees, peer mentoring programs, parent engagement, etc.
Having an Adventure-In-Residence practitioner is a great way to add capacity to your school with a highly skilled experiential facilitator and consultant. We can help you convene groups, reach strategic goals, and provide direct services for both students and staff.
For more information or to customize an AIR partnership for your school, contact us at info@pa.org.
