S.A.F.E.R. (Shock Absorbing Fall Energy Regulator) Lanyard

To meet the challenge of evolving fall arrest standards in the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT), PA replaced traditional Lobster Claws with our own ANSI/OSHA compliant energy-absorbing device. ACCT standards specify a maximum fall impact force to no more than 900 lb and the free fall distance to no more than 6'. Shock absorber activates at 450 lb. This year we offer an improved SAFER Lanyard with a forged steel D ring as an intermediate connection point and more flexible tails of 9,000 lb Type 18 webbing. Standard version comes with two sewn-in locking steel snaps. Also available without sewn-in snaps (so you can use auto locking carabiners) Designed for climbers up to 300 lb.

LEAP Anchor

The LEAP (Leading Edge Anchor Point) Anchor is a new solution to the problem of high-strength anchor points on challenge courses. PA's engineers have produced a high-strength, multi-purpose anchor that can be used equally well as self-belay anchors on staple climbs or as the ideal termination fitting on belay cables anywhere where the cable load is at 90° to the angle of the bolt.

Features of the LEAP Anchor:

  • Designed for use with 5/8" x 6" Lag Screws or 5/8" machine bolts and 5/8" Round Washers. (sold separately-SEE BELOW)
  • Tested to over 9,500 lb without anchor failure
  • Exceeds ACCT's "Standard Anchor" strength of 5,000 lb (even in soft white pine trees, test results averaged over 7,000 lb when using 5/8" x 6" lag screws). ACCT's "Leading Edge" anchor standard is 2,500 lb.
  • Double coated for corrosion resistance Â- zinc plated and powder-coated
  • Available in bright orange or gray

Staples

1/2" staples are commonly used to create access climbs on trees and utility poles. For most trees and all utility poles, pre-drilling a 3/8" hole to the proper depth creates a stronger and better placement. 1/2" staples are available in 6" and 8" lengths. For greater holding power, use 8" staples on softwood trees. 3/8" staples are useful as light attachments for a Spider's Web or Maze.
