Jen Dirga, MSW, LICSW, is the Director of Social and Emotional Learning at Project Adventure. She joins Project Adventure after 15 years as a Program Manager, trainer and coach for a SEL program through the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. She has published articles on addressing and responding to childhood trauma and has spoken at numerous conferences on SEL, childhood trauma, and mindfulness.

John Grund, MSW, LCSW, has been facilitating workshops in Adventure Based Counseling for over twenty-five years. His Mindfulness training has included Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program at UMASS, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Forgiveness and Compassion Programs at Stanford University, Google’s Search Inside Yourself, and he is a recent graduate from the Nalanda Institute’s Contemplative Psychotherapy and Compassion program in New York City.​

According to Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD., “Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We feel more alive. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing." Mindfulness practices have been linked to physical, cognitive and emotional well-being. Jen Dirga, the Director of Social and Emotional Learning at Project Adventure and John Grund, owner of Grund and Associates LLC, a partner in Full Value Communities LLC, and a Project Adventure contract trainer, will present a brief webinar that will introduce mindfulness and practices that align with Project Adventure foundational concepts.
 
The goals of this webinar are to define mindfulness and the overall benefits on health and emotional well being, to introduce practices for self and students, and to align foundational concepts to mindfulness teachings.
