Development Internship
Description:
The Development Internship is most appropriate for those who have an interest in the behind-the-scenes workings of a progressive non-profit organization. Working primarily in the office, this position will involve helping to implement the Development strategies that keep Project Adventure the leader in the field of Adventure and experiential education. Interns can expect to learn about proposal development, marketing strategies, fundraising strategies, how to build lasting relationships with customers and community members.
Potential Responsibilities:
- Proposal development for funding purposes including: prospect research, project design, proposal writing, and follow-up on requests
- General administrative support as required
- Management of database of donors
- Periodic reconciliation of accounting software
- Review of existing development websites
- Assist with special fundraising events
- Participate in development and strategic meeting
NOTE: Responsibilities will vary based on an intern’s skill level, area of interest and the current needs of Project Adventure staff.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic learner and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service, organizational, communication and writing skills
- Non-profit, education or Adventure/experiential programming background helpful
- Computer skills – experience with Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Gift Maker Pro, Excel and Power Point desired
- Preferred Graduate level
- Independent worker
- Ability to commit to a 3-6 month position
