Adventure Programming Internship

The Adventure Programming Internship is most appropriate for those who have an interest in our direct service programs with youth and our professional development workshops. This internship balances time in the field supporting and working directly with client programs, with the behind-the-scenes administrative work that makes programs possible. Interns can expect to learn more about facilitation of the Adventure group process and associated theoretical models, using the challenge course as a tool, and adding to their game/initiative bag of tricks. Prior experience with facilitation and challenge courses is helpful, but not required.

Potential Responsibilities and Concentrations:

  • Program Delivery: Support youth & college program delivery, as well as professional development workshops with adult clients and write end of program reports
  • Program logistics: Maintain programming props and equipment, both on and off the challenge course and inventory and re-stock first aid kits
  • Administrative: Phone coverage, data entry, and creating packets and mailings for our clients, as well as general administrative support
  • Ropes Course Stewardship: Assist the Ropes Course Manager, inventory element bags, mulch the challenge course and monitor ropes course log
  • Other responsibilities: Assist the Office Manager, the Publications Manager and the Director of Development with various projects

NOTE: Responsibilities will vary based on an intern’s skill level, area of interest and the current needs of Project Adventure staff.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm and open-mindedness
  • Adventure/experiential programming background helpful
  • Independent worker and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills
  • Computer skills – preferably Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and digital photography
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications helpful
  • Ability to commit to a 3-6 month position
