The Challenge Course ElementsIt all starts with excellent program design and relevant curriculum. Then the proper sequencing of activities is essential to all good challenge course experiences. The entire program should be structured to create a supportive group environment that gradually increases participants' self-confidence and prepares them for each new personal or group challenge on the course. We offer a vast array of activities, initiatives and elements to meet your specific needs, including versions and adaptations of classic elements to ensure participation by all, including individuals with disabilities. Many activities are engineered for wheelchair accessibility. New ElementsOver the past few years we have introduced new elements to our repertoire. Low ElementsThe low elements are usually group-oriented challenges located on or near ground level. These elements do not require any special safety system other than the diligent spotting by group members. In many ways, the low elements are the heart of the challenge course experience and provide an introduction to the power of learning through Adventure. The emphasis on full participation, trusting and caring for others, and creative thinking provides a rich framework for examining how learning at the challenge course can be transferred to "real world" experiences. High ElementsHigh elements can be team-oriented experiences, but commonly consist of individual or small group challenges installed twenty to forty feet above the ground. They require the use of protective climbing equipment and a belay system for protection. The connection between climbers and belayers amplify the team-oriented approach. Participants often find the high elements the most memorable part of their challenge course experience because of the anxiety and exhilaration they feel while challenging themselves at height. Whether it's traversing the Cat Walk beam, or diving for a trapeze from the Pamper Pole, these elements allow participants to go far beyond their perceived limits. They come away with a clearer understanding of their capabilities and a greater willingness to tackle new challenges in their lives outside the Adventure experience. |
